Patient: Smokey
Age/Sex/Breed: 7 year old male neutered DLH
Dx: PANCYTOPENIA

• History -- 7/21/08--Presented for marked lethargy. Physical exam was unremarkable other than mildly pale gums & increased respiratory rate. Temp was 101.5  Some flea dirt was noted and prior FeLV & FIV testing was negative. Leukemia/Rabies/FVRCP vaccines all current.
• Diagnostics--A Complete cell count was initially preformed. A profound pancytopenia (very low white & red blood cells and low platelets) was discovered. No obvious blood parasites were noted on the blood slides. Further diagnostic procedures were declined by the owner.
7/21/08- RBC 1.30 M,  WBC 1.50 K, platelets 20 K
8/4/08    RBC 9.55 M,  WBC 8.85 K, platelets 432 K
• Possible causes for this condition would be a viral infection, toxin ingestion or protozoan (blood parasite) infection.
•Therapy-- Feline Transfer Factor(bioactive polypetides), antibiotics & prednisone therapy was started.
• Follow up--8/4/08--Recheck exam revealed that Smokey was very much improved. A Complete Cell Count was repeated and revealed a completely normal cell count.
• Assessment-- In a non-febrile patient with this type of presentation this is an amazing bone marrow response. It would have to be assumed that the immunotherapy had the ability to stimulate the marrow response. We have seen this type of response in many cases in the past couple years.

Patient: Shyby
Age/Sex/Breed: 7 year old female spayed DMH
Dx: PANCYTOPENIA

• Prior History -- Not current on core vaccines, no ongoing medications or prior conditions.
• Current History --12/19/07--Presented loss of activity. Physical exam revealed a fever of 103.5% dehydration, pale membranes and icterus. Possible cause would include hemobartonella (a blood parasite), bone marrow disorder & liver disease.
• Diagnostics --- 12/19/07--Complete Blood cell count revealed  profoundly low white & red bloods cells and low platelets. Mild liver enzyme elevations were noted along with a very elevated total bilirubin.
• Therap y--- Feline Transfer Factor, Denamarin (liver support), antibiotics and an iron supplement.
• Follow up ---12/28/07--- Shyby was very much improved today. Recheck cell counts revealed a dramatic improvement for all three cell lines that were affected.
12/19/07 RBC 0.63 M, WBC 0.44 K, platelets 51 K
12/28/07 RBC 6.08 M, WBC 10.83 K, platelets 599 K
• Follow up---1/11/08--- Shyby continued to improve. Liver values returned to normal.
• Assessment--- Initiating early immunotherapy along with standard therapy protocols continues to allow our patients to have enhanced clinical recoveries.

Patient: Maze
Age/Sex/Breed: 9 year old male neutered DMH
Dx: PANCYTOPENIA

• Prior history--- current vaccine history, mild ongoing gingivitis and prior sinusitis 2/8/08
• Current History--- Presented on 7/3/08 for physical exam and preanesthetic blood work for a dental prophylaxis.
• Diagnostics--- 7/3/08--CBC revealed a marked pancytopenia (bone marrow suppression). Blood chemistries and electrolytes were normal and a mild increased blood protein was noted.
• Therapy--- Transfer Factor(bioactive polypeptides), iron supplementation and clindamycin.
• Follow up---7/10/08--Recheck exam and follow up CBC revealed an unbelievable bone marrow response to the antibiotic and immune therapy. The owner reports that Maze is feeling much better. The owner has decided to continue oral immune enhancement supplementation based on his response to therapy.
• Assessment---In most clinical situations, we wouldn't expect the bone marrow to be able to respond in such a dramatic manner. But, this is the type of response we commonly see when we add immunotherapy early in the course of therapy.

Patient: Peanut
Age/Sex/Breed: 9 year old male neutered DSH
Dx: AUTOIMMUNE DERMATITIS

• Prior History--- Peanut has been on Interferon several months for an ongoing dermatitis.
• Current History--- 10/3/08-- On initial exam Peanut had a very unthrifty appearance with a very dull hair coat. He was lethargic, listless and non-febrile. He had ulcerations affecting the muco-cutaneous borders of the anus, eyes, mouth and nares. Fleas present.
• Diagnostics-- FeLV/FIV negative, Skin Biopsies were temporarily delayed.
• Therapy-- Veterinary Immune Formula, Baytril & Metacam.
• Follow up--- 10/21/08-- Prior skin lesions are improving but Peanut has developed a severe URI. He is sneezing                     with ulceration of 50% of his hard palate and tongue. Still non-febrile. The Veterinary Immune Formula                     was continued and Zithromax was started.
10/31/08--  phone communication--Peanut is doing very well. Appetite and activity are very normal. His                     sneezing has stopped.
11/14/08--- Recheck exam--The skin lesions are healed and the oral viral lesions are completely                     resolved!!
12/4/08-- Recheck exam--Peanut is doing very well. He has regained his weight, eating very well and his                     hair coat looks wonderful. His owners are very pleased!! They plan on continuing the Veterinary Immune                     Formula.
• Assessment-- This was a very unusual case. At first dealing with the chronic autoimmune dermatitis followed by the viral Upper Respiratory condition really stressed this patient. We were absolutely amazed by the speed with which the cutaneous autoimmune lesions resolved and even more remarkable was the speed with which the viral ulcerations in the mouth healed. I truly don't think there is any other supplement on the market today that could have helped this patient respond so well and rapidly as The Veterinary Immune Formula. I use this supplement in any immune compromised patient that I work with.  Regards, Dr. Bob McClung

Patient: Mombosa
Age/Sex/Breed: 6 year old male DLH
Dx: AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE

Mombosa presented with severe inflammation and erosion of the upper lip. Previous treatments included high doses of prednisone, which induced hair loss and gradual deterioration of the lip tissue. Ramaekers Feline Formula was added to the diet. Within two months there were marked improvements including significantly reduced inflammation. After one year the autoimmune condition was stabilized, skin condition was excellent and Mombosa no longer required cortisone.

Patient: Tigger
Age/Sex/Breed: 4 year old DSH
Dx: MALIGNANT FIBROUS HISTIOCYTOMA

Tigger presented on 12/13/2006 with a 2.5 cm SQ mass on the dorsal aspect of the left carpus. A fine needle aspirate was performed and results suggested a malignant mesenchymal tumor. The owner elected to start one Veterinary Immune Tabs daily on 12/18 with surgical debulking of the mass scheduled for 12/26.

{Surgery: An elliptical incision with CO2 laser was performed. The mass dimensions were 2.0cm long X 1.5cm wide X 1cm thick. Due to the location wide and deep borders could not be achieved. The extensor tendons of digits 2, 3 & 4 ran directly through the mass. The mass was also firmly attached to the joint capsules of the carpus. The extensor tendons were severed proximal and distal to the mass. They were "tacked" to remaining lateral and medial digital extensors. Following mass resection the tumor bed was lasered 3 times with a rotary head to decrease the probability of remnant cancer cells. Skin closure was minimal leaving an open surgical wound measuring 2.2cm X 2.2cm.}
Tigger immediately Post Op

Routine post-surgical antibiotic therapy and extended splinting and bandaging followed with continuance of Veterinary Immune Tabs. Post surgical biopsy results revealed a Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma with tumors cells at most margins. At a follow up evaluation on 5/9/2007 the surgery site was completely healed and Tigger had nearly complete function of the limb with only limited decreases in range of motion. Currently, Tigger is doing very well with no indication of tumor regrowth. Attending veterinarian: Dr. Bill Burlingame.
